Who I Am
A career built through practice
Andrea Arroyo Matamoros is an administrative and financial consultant with more than 20 years of experience helping organizations structure their finances, optimize processes, and strengthen their strategic management. Her career combines the technical rigor of corporate finance with a results-oriented practical vision, making her a strategic partner for companies and institutions looking to grow on solid foundations.
Throughout her career she has held financial leadership roles at multinational companies in fast-moving consumer goods and telecommunications, including Reckitt Benckiser Central America, Telefónica Costa Rica (Movistar), Philip Morris International, and Nestlé Costa Rica. In these organizations she led FP&A, strategic planning, budgeting and forecasting, treasury, inventory control, audit, and internal control functions. Her regional experience spans operations across Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Panama, Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala.
In the public sector she served as Director of Support Services at SINAES (Costa Rica's higher education accreditation body), where she led a multidisciplinary team, managed institutional budgets under IPSAS standards, and obtained official certification for compliance with national accounting standards. During that period she drove the full digitization of public procurement processes and led the digital transformation of the financial area using Power BI, Power Apps, and Power Automate.
Her consulting value proposition is centered on three pillars: financial diagnosis and structuring, design and implementation of efficient administrative processes, and support for digital transformation projects applied to finance. She works with both private companies that need to professionalize their financial management and public institutions seeking to modernize their operations under demanding regulatory frameworks.
Andrea holds an MBA with a concentration in Finance from Universidad Latina de Costa Rica, a degree in Finance from ULACIT, and specializations in IPSAS/NICSP, Public Procurement, Digital Transformation, and Continuous Process Improvement. She is currently studying artificial intelligence applied to business. She is proficient in SAP FICO, JDE, Power BI, and the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, and works under IFRS, IAS, and IPSAS standards.

Frequently Asked Questions
What people ask most
- What does a business strategy and finance consultant do?
- A business strategy and finance consultant works alongside companies and institutions to diagnose their financial situation, design concrete action plans, and implement process improvements. In my case, I work across three main areas: financial structuring (budgeting, FP&A, treasury), administrative process optimization (internal controls, procedures, KPIs), and digital transformation applied to finance (tools such as Power BI, Power Apps, and SAP FICO). The result is an organization with greater clarity for decision-making, better resource control, and more efficient operations.
- Does Andrea work with small businesses or only large corporations?
- I work with both, though my consulting approach is especially well suited to SMBs that want to professionalize their financial and administrative management without hiring a full-time CFO. Many small and medium-sized businesses in Latin America have the capacity to grow, but lack the financial framework and processes that allow them to do so with control and sustainability. My role is to build that framework together with the client's team — in a practical, size-appropriate way.
- What industries does Andrea have experience in?
- My experience spans two main sectors: multinational private companies (fast-moving consumer goods and telecommunications — Nestlé, Reckitt Benckiser, Philip Morris, Movistar) and the public institutional sector (SINAES, operating under IPSAS/NICSP standards and Costa Rica's public procurement law). Beyond sectoral expertise, my regional experience across six Central American countries gives me a broad view of the business realities in the region — allowing me to adapt solutions that work in both highly regulated environments and more agile structures.
- Does Andrea offer consulting services in English?
- Yes. I offer consulting services in both Spanish and English. I have worked in international corporate environments where English is the operating language — including financial reports, presentations to regional leadership, and coordination with teams across multiple countries. For clients or projects that require communication, documentation, or deliverables in English, I can fully accommodate that.
- How do I get started working with Andrea?
- The process is straightforward: we start with an initial diagnostic session (no charge) to explore the organization's current situation, specific needs, and objectives. From there, I propose a scope of work tailored to the client's context and budget. Engagements can be project-based (e.g., designing a financial model or budget plan) or ongoing advisory. To get started, you can reach out through the contact form or directly via WhatsApp.
